A travel advisory was issued on the official Government’s Twitter page for the Republic of Tanzania (linked to the Ministry of Health website) today, 4 May 2021.
Entry requirements for South Africans to note include:
- Travellers will need to complete a traveller’s surveillance form 24 hours prior to arrival in Tanzania.
- A negative COVID test upon arrival needs to be presented (based on a sample collected within 72 hours before arrival into Tanzania).
- Passengers will be subjected to enhanced screening including a rapid test for passengers arriving from countries with higher COVID numbers. The cost of the test is USD25.
If arriving from countries with new COVID-19 variants, based on the World Health Organisation’s daily updates or those who have travelled through these countries in the last 14 days (regardless of route), will be:
- Subject to a rapid test at point of entry into Tanzania, followed by 14 days mandatory quarantine (currently only in place for travellers returning from India) at a designated government facility.
